Today we celebrate a trailblazer who walks in her purpose, lives in colour all the while changing the world with her infectious energy, Sibahle Magadla.A highly experienced and committed Economic Development Specialist and Consultant passionate about addressing poverty, inequality, and unemployment in Africa. She holds two Masters Degrees qualifications, an MSc in Development Economics from The School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), and an MCom Economics from the University of Cape Town (UCT). Her major focus as an independent consultant is on providing technical support and advocacy to promote inclusive growth and job creation. She’s also worked in the private and public sectors. Sibahle is passionate about advancing women’s economic outcomes; she’s done research that explores themes including gender pay gaps & motherhood penalties in the workplace. She recently contributed towards a UNDP flagship project on the Future of the Ethiopian Economy Study.Sibahle is also a moderator and has been a panellist; she drafted a chapter on women’s employment outcomes for the Ethiopian economy, assessing the state of female entrepreneurship which she presented in a moderated panel session at the 2022 UNDP Annual Development Conference in Addis Ababa. She was concurrently panel session organizer and moderator at the 2023 Women Deliver global conference in Kigali, Rwanda (session entitled: The Nexus of Women, Capital and Entrepreneurship in Africa).Sibahle is the Non-Executive Director at Imalipay South Africa, one of Africa’s most robust, reliable and scalable Fintech-as-a-service API platform for digital businesses and marketplaces. She’s also a career and mindset coach, supporting graduates and young professionals to navigate their careers. Her methodology is that which starts with looking inwards and self-actualisation so one can navigate their career as their authentic selves. She is also an avid traveller if you don’t find her in South Africa, she’s globetrotting. Sibahle represents radical women of our generation, hers is a silent and yet intentional revolution addressing societal ills and gaps, a reminder that change can start with you!
