Today we meet the #RollingGoddess Lebohang Monyatsi, born in Vryburg in the North West Province. Passionate about disability and inclusion her life's purpose is to instill a culture where everyone feels included and catered for, to make the presence of disability more mainstream and accepted in our society in creating the world that everyone can access -barrier free.
Lebohang contracted polio at the age of three which affected her walking. This made her childhood a bit difficult, she started attending mainstream school at eleven years old because of the lack of accessibility features for people using wheelchairs. This did not stop her from pursuing her dreams and inspiring others whilst at it. She is the FIRST runway model that makes use of a wheelchair in South Africa.
In 2017 she was crowned First Princess at the Miss Wheelchair World pageant in Warsaw, Poland. She has previously won 1st prize at the 2nd South Africa Youth Awards under the category of “Extra Ordinary Champions”. She's also an international basketball athlete, Lebohang has represented South Africa in the field of Wheelchair Basketball in the Algeria, Paralympics Qualifiers, Mexico, Paralympics qualifiers, World cup qualifiers & Namibia, international friendly games. She's recently landed a role on Generations the Legacy as Rosie.
Lebohang has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Psychology from the North West University. One of her current projects and focus areas is Miss Wheelchair South Africa, which she hopes will build confidence in young women who are differently-abled.
She lives by the hashtag #BornToStandOut she continues to break stereotypes associated with people with disabilities. She's the face and voice that shows a child living with a disability that anything and everything is possible. We celebrate her for her greatness today, and being an advocate for people with disabilities. What's your excuse for not reaching your wildest dreams ??????#AlphaFemaleFridays#BornToStandOut#RollingGoddess#BreakingStereotypes#Magic#AQueen#Inspiration#Changemaker
